A Celebration of Life service for Doris M. Snively, 86, of Newark, will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at the Toboso United Methodist Church, 2364 Gratiot Rd, Newark.
Mrs. Snively died Friday, March 31, 2017 at the Arlington Care Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 1, 1930, in Glencoe, Ohio, to the late Lew W. and Zella L. (Bumgardner) Bruce.
Mrs. Snively worked for many years in the family business, Don’s Bike Shop, and later at Quality Farm and Fleet as a cashier and the Licking Valley schools as a cook. She enjoyed bird-watching and gardening, the lost art of tatting, and collecting anything with a chicken motif. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her children Dennis (Debbie) Snively, of Newark, Dixie (Paul) Blackley, of Syracuse, NY, Diana (Mark) Christenberry, of Newark, Denise (Mike) Lieber, of Newark, and Darla Snively (Ed Phipps), of Zanesville; 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law and brothers-in law, many nieces and nephews, and her granddog Barkley. The family expresses special thanks to our mother’s caregivers Janie West and Nancy Davis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald O. Snively, and one brother.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made, in her name, to Hospice of Central Ohio, 2269 Cherry Valley Rd, Newark, Ohio, the Alzheimer’s Assocation, or the American Diabetes Association.
