A memorial service for Jack L. Emerson, 72, of Newark, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 285 W. National Dr., Newark, with Rev. Mark Katrick officiating. Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St. Newark.
Jack passed away December 4, 2017, at The OSU Medical Center. He was born January 14, 1945, in Newark, to the late Leonard S. and Mary Charlene (Hafer) Emerson.
Jack was a 1964 graduate of Granville High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He retired from Owens Corning Technical Center, and was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Beth Anne (Hostetler) Emerson; daughter, Amy (Shelly Comfort) Emerson of Columbus; son, Nicholas (Luisa) Emerson of Columbus; grandson, James Patrick Emerson of Columbus; sisters-in-laws, Becca Hostetler of Newark, Barbara (Kevin) Mangus of Woodsfield, and Susan Huddy of Newark, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra Taylor.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John’s United Church of Christ, or the Licking County Humane Society.
