Michael Andrew Hayden of Newark, Ohio, January 16, 1980 – February 26, 2018

A Celebration of Life service for Michael Andrew Hayden, 38, of Newark, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Central Christian Church, with Pastor Jeff Gill and Pastor and Pastor Karen Gebhart officiating.  Family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.  An inurnment will be held at a later date at Cedar Hill Cemetery. 

 
Mike passed away February 26, 2018, from injuries sustained in a automobile accident. He was born January 16, 1980, in Columbus, to Richard Franke Hayden and the late Rev. Debra Susan (Lamb) Hayden. 
 
He is survived by his father, Richard Franke (Betty) Hayden; sister,  Heather (Jim) Craft of Indiana; special niece and nephews that he loved like his own, Gage, Anna, Alex, and Jake Craft, and many  aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
 
Mike was a 1998 graduate of Medina High School, where he sang in the men’s chorus, and received his associate’s degree at ITT Technical Institute.  He was in the Zanesville Boys Scouts and Westerville Campfire boys and girls.  He Attended Camp Christian in Magnetic Springs through high school. He worked for Polaris Automation/ISI.  He was an avid comic book collector, movies, especially Johnny Depp.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Frank E. and Margaret (Bolen) Hayden.

Jon Luk Waters of Newark, OH, August 17, 1992 – February 26, 2018

A funeral service for Jon Luk Waters will be held at 1pm on Friday, March 2, 2018 at Brucker Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st Street, Newark, OH 43055. Burial will follow at Lutheran Cemetery. Family will greet friends at the funeral home for 2 hours prior to the service.

Jon, age 25, of Newark, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 26, 2018 at his home. He was born on August 17, 1992 to the David and Jodie (Jones) Waters in Newark, OH.

In addition to his parents, Jon is survived by his sisters, Devon, Katie, and Samantha Waters; half-brother, David Waters, Jr.; nieces, Sofia Bentley-Waters, and Jazmin Stevens; nephew, Izaiah Stevens; and paternal grandparents, Nelson and Marlene Waters.

After graduating high school, Jon worked for Legend Smelting and Recycling.

Emma Jean (Carpenter) Hunt of Heath, Ohio, August 12, 1928 – February 26, 2018

A funeral service for Emma Jean (Carpenter) Hunt, 89, of Heath, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church Newark, 1000 Granville Rd., with Pastor Jim Addy officiating.  Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.  Family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St. Newark.

Emma passed away February 26, 2018, at the Selma Markowitz Hospice Care Center. She was born August 12, 1928, in Newark, to the late Harvey and Mildred (Smith) Carpenter. 

She worked for Attorney Ernest T. Johnson for 24 years and for Judge Neil Laughlin for 21 years.  She was a member of First Baptist Church Newark, where she served as Financial Secretary for 26 years.  She was a member of Open Circle Sunday School Class and Eastern Star No. 305.  Emma was a graduate of Newark High School, Class of 1946.  Her hobbies were knitting and music.

She is survived by brother-in-law, David Hunt and wife Marilyn; James Hunt and wife, Marlene; sister-in-law, Mary Alspach and husband, Ron; sister-in-law, LaDonna Hunt; brother-in-law, Dan Bevard, and several nieces and nephews.

Her husband, William N. Hunt, preceded her in death on August 10, 2011.  They were married on October 31, 1951.

Thomas “Tommy” Joe Carroll of Alexandria, Ohio, June 12, 1975 – February 22, 2018

Thomas J. Carroll, 42, of Alexandria went to be with the Lord, Thursday, February 22, 2018 after a sudden heart attack. He was born June 12, 1975 in Chanute, Kansas.

He is survived by his mother, Vanessa and step- father, Timothy Lawson of Alexandria; father, Tom Carroll of Caney, KS; grandmother, Laura Carte of Independence, KS; sister, Crissy Carroll of Caney, KS; girlfriend, Jessica Hammond and daughter, Lexi; step brother, Brett Lawson of Jacksontown, OH; step sister, Kait Staley of Cincinnati; uncle Joe Williams of Ruskin, FL; aunt, Brenda Hanen of Independence, KS; and many more aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Tommy was employed by American Showa in Sunbury where he became better known as “Kansas” by his friends and co-workers. Thomas always enjoyed his Harley Davidson motorcycle, Dodge trucks, and his favorite NASCAR drive, Kyle Busch. He especially enjoyed spending his weekends with his two girls, Jessica and Lexi.

Thomas was preceded in death by his sister, Laura Carroll and grandfather and grandmother Meise.

Visitation will be Saturday from 1-3 PM at the Brucker- Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark, where the funeral service will follow visitation beginning at 3:00 PM with Pastor Wally McLaughlin officiating.

Patricia Ellen Alexander of Newark, Ohio, February 6, 1940 – February 23, 2018

A memorial service for Patricia Ellen Alexander, 78 of Newark, will be held at a later date.    

Patricia, a homemaker, passed away February 23, 2018 at Grant Medical Center. She was born February 6, 1940 in Newark, Ohio to the late Raymond and Clara (Gray) Staugh.

Patricia graduated from Utica High School in 1958 and proudly served in the U.S. Airforce. She enjoyed arts and crafts and was an excellent painter.  She also enjoyed travelling and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Asa Phillip Alexander; 3 brothers, Fred, John, and Richard Staugh; and 1 sister, Barbara Haynes.

She is survived by her sons; Jeffery Todd (Beth) Alexander of Shawano, Wisconsin, Jay Scott (Bonny) Alexander of Bellevue, Nebraska, and Jess E. (Ann) Alexander of Newark, Ohio; 1 brother; Ernie (Gay) Staugh, of Utica, Ohio; 1 sister-in-law: Pauline Staugh; several nieces and nephews and several cousins.

Gary Lee Dean of Newark, Ohio, January 30, 1948 – February 25, 2018

Gary, age 70, of Newark, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2018, at Mt. Carmel East Medical Center. He was born January 30, 1948, in Lawrence County, Ohio, a son of the late Arnold and Neice Dean.

Gary Lee Dean of Newark, Ohio, January 30, 1948 – February 28, 2018

Fanny Ann Skidmore of St. Louisville, OH, September 4, 1933 – February 23, 2018

A funeral service for Fanny Skidmore, age 84, of St. Louisville, will be held at 7pm, on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Brucker Kishler Funeral Home. Family will greet friends for two hours prior to the service. Fanny will be laid to rest at her ancestral family plot in Morrison Church Cemetery in Sutton, WV.

Fanny passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, February 23, 2018. She was born on September 4, 1933 to the late Harmon and Louise (Fisher) Ware, in Braxton, WV.

Fanny is survived by her children, Beverly K. Newton, Richard Lee Skidmore, Steve Skidmore, Scott Skidmore, Sherry (Gary) Bishop, and Vickie (Rick) Kendall; 13 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and siblings, Frances (Lou) Trace, Howard (Carol) Ware, Harold Ware, and Glen (Ann) Ware; sisters-in-law, Betty Ware and Ida Mae Russell.

In addition to her parents, Fanny is preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Skidmore, Sr; son, William “Willie” Skidmore, Jr; and grandson, Brandon Lee Skidmore.

Fanny loved spending time with her family, and in her free time enjoyed shopping, travelling, and being outdoors.

Sue A. Landis of Newark, OH, February 13, 1934 – February 20, 2018

Sue Ann Landis, age 84, of Newark, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2018. She was born on February 13, 1934 to the late Charles and Edna (Downing) Meloy in Zanesville, OH.

Sue graduated from Newark High School in 1952 and retired from Holophane of Pataskala. In her free time, she enjoyed painting, gardening, and making crafts to share with her friends and family.

She is survived by her sons, Monte (Kelly) Landis and Mark (Kim) Landis; grandchildren, John Landis, Jennifer Landis, and Jessica Landis; special niece, Sherri (Kevin) Miller; and her loving dog, Maggie.

In addition to her parents, Sue is preceded in death by her sister, Shirley (David) Leith.

A funeral service for Sue will be held at 4pm on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Brucker Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st Street, Newark, OH 43055. Family will greet friends for two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be private.

Deborah C. Myers of Newark, Ohio, July 19, 1971 – January 28, 2018

Deborah C. Myers, 46, lost her battle with breast cancer on January 28, 2018. She was born in Logan, Ohio, on July 19th, 1971, to Loeta “Sue” and the late Robert Bownes. Debbie enjoyed volunteering in youth sports with her children and fishing with her husband. She will be remembered for her strong will, caring nature, willingness to help others and her kind heart.
Debbie fought hard every day to be here for her loved ones. She remained positive thru all she endured. In addition to her mother, she leaves behind her rock and soulmate, Rob; her daughters Ashley (Kyle) Retzlaff, Shailynn Myers; her sons Keith (Samantha) Goss, Garrett Myers; stepson Dalton Myers; her brothers Bryan (Bridgette) Bownes, Brent (Rebecca) Bownes and many nieces and nephews. She was especially proud of being “Mimi” to her grandchildren. Debbie will always be sadly missed by her loved ones and forever be in our hearts.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2018, at 1pm, at the Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home in Newark. Cory Campbell will officiate. Burial will follow in Wilson Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4pm-8pm, on Wednesday, at the funeral home, 985 N. 21st Street.
