Phyllis Jean Hughes of St. Louisville, Ohio, February 2, 1955 – June 5, 2018

A Celebration of Life service for Phyllis Jean Hughes will be held held at 10am, on Monday, June 11, 2018, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 37 S. Main Street in St. Louisville. Pastor Mark Nodo will officiate. Burial will follow in Eden Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4pm-8pm, on Sunday, at the Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st Street in Newark.
Phyllis, age 63, of St. Louisville, went home to be with the Lord, on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at Mt. Carmel East Hospital. She was born February 2, 1955, in Dayton, a daughter of the late Ralph Harold and Betty Burnadette (Bond) Shewman. She was a 1973 graduate of Licking Valley High School and was an LPN, working at the Price Road Care Center for many years and later as manager of Northtowne Senior Living in Newark. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, the NRA, the Sportsman Alliance, National Trappers Association and the Ohio State Trappers Association, where she was inducted into the Ohio State Trappers Hall of Fame. Phyllis was an avid baseball fan, enjoying Clippers games with her husband and seeing baseball games around the country when attending Trappers Association conventions.
Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband of nearly 40 years, Jon Hughes, whom she married on July 7, 1978; her sisters, Patricia K. Dodrill (Tim) and Pamela Jill Geiser (Ken) and several nieces and nephews and many friends.

David H. Karstetter of Newark, OH, January 26, 1952 – June 4, 2018

David H. Karstetter, of Newark, Ohio went to be with the Lord, surrounded by loved ones on June 4, 2018. The son of Howard “Bud”, and Violet “Mickey” (Emerick) Karstetter, Dave was born on January 26, 1952 and was raised in Youngstown, Ohio.

Dave is survived by his loving partner of 15 years Lillie Leonard of Newark; children, Shannon (Dave) Weingart of Sebring, OH, David Jr. (Jessica) of Newark, Danielle, Kyle, and Kaitlin of Newark; siblings, Karen McCann (Peter) of Gainesville Fla, and Brian (Julia) of Cromwell, CT. Dave also leaves his 4 grandchildren, Andrew, Nicholas, Adrienne, and Eleanora whom he loved dearly, and many loving nieces and nephews. Dave would have also wanted to acknowledge his children’s mothers, Cori Karstetter, of Newark, and Pat Patterson, of Sebring, OH.

His impact on his friends and family was enormous, and we have all benefited from his presence. Dave enjoyed riding (working on) his Harley, his work, and the outdoors. His laugh was contagious, and his heart was always open to anyone in need. Some of his best times involved the annual beach vacations with Lillie, and his sister in Florida, and the annual trip to the mountains with his brother and the close friends of camp. His most important priority and his greatest passion was his family. He lived life to the fullest, always wide open, and always with consideration to others. He will be missed by all, and lives on through us forever.

Calling hours will be held at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st Street, Newark, Ohio, on Saturday June 9th, from 11am-1pm, with a Service of Remembrance at 1pm.

Roseland May Pemberton of Heath, Ohio, January 4, 1930 – June 5, 2018

A funeral service for Roseland May Pemberton, 88, of Heath, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, with Pastor Wally McLaughlin and Pastor Dave Welsch officiating.  Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens.  Family will receive friends from 12 to 2 p.m. Friday, two hours prior to the service at the funeral home, 985 N. 21st St. Newark.

Roseland, a homemaker, passed away June 5, 2018, at the Selma Markowitz Hospice Care Center.  She was born January 4, 1930, in Johnstown, to the late Howard Ross and Edna Fern (Dague) Johnson.

Roseland was a member of First Baptist Church of Heath.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Benjamin V. Pemberton, whom she married on June 14, 1947; daughter, Dawn Coffman of Heath; grandchildren, Amanda (Scott) Wakely of Marion, Cassandra Lynn Pemberton of Marion, and Dana Coffman of Heath, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Benjamin Ross Pemberton; daughter, Darlene K. Pemberton; brothers, Edgar, Roy, and Russell Johnson, and sisters, Betty Ricciardo and Janet Dove.
