Robert F. Schmeltzer, Jr. of Newark, OH, April 21, 1965 – July 26, 2019

Robert F. “Bob” Schmeltzer, Jr., age 54 of Newark, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2019 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 21, 1965 to Robert and Mary Ellen (Clark) Schmeltzer.

Calling hours will be held from 5-7pm on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at Brucker Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St, Newark, OH 43055.

Bob spent his life working construction and being a big part of the sheep community. He raised club lambs, helped local 4-H kids, and was a member of Licking County Sheep Improvement Committee.

Bob is survived by his father; loving wife of 23 years, Marisa; children, Dr. Christina Crouch and Robert F. “Bobby” Schmeltzer, III; grandson, Kayden; siblings, Sheila (Mike) Cluse, Donna (Jerry) Robinette, Theresa (Steve) Morris, Scott (Melissa) Schmeltzer, and Mike Mitchell; siblings-in-law, Tamara (Jim) McCormack, Riccardo (Skyler) Martinez, and Randolfo (Kerry) Martinez. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Bob is preceded in death by his mother; sister, Tina Mitchell; and great nephew, Waylon Morris.

Lynne Barry Beach of Newark, Ohio, July 16, 1944 – July 28, 2019

Lynne Barry Beach, 75, of Newark, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2019 at the Selma Markowitz Hospice Center. He was born in Auckland, New Zealand on July 16, 1944 to the late Robert Beach and Dorothy (Hall) Beach.

Lynne graduated from Newark High School and attended The Ohio State University. He was employed by Owens Corning Technical Center for over 20 years. He then became the owner of Farquhar & Steinbaugh Hunting and Fishing Supplies for over 30 years. He was previously a volunteer firefighter for Newark Township Fire Department.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Virginia (Wilson) Beach and beloved grandchildren, Abbey and David Beach, and their mother, Michele.

He was preceded in death by his son, Brian Beach and infant son, Michael.

Honoring Lynne’s request, there will be no calling hours or service. Burial will take place in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

A celebration of life service for Linda Sue Smith of Heath will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday July 31, 2019 at the Brucker & Kishler Funeral Home, with Pastor John Schouten officiating. Burial will follow in Wilson Cemetery.

Linda entered into Heaven on July 28, 2019; she was born April 16th, 1947, in Findlay, Ohio, to the late Worthy Oliver and Frances A. (Couples) Hassan.  She was employed Brucker & Kishler as office manager and John Edward Price Florist as a floral designer. She graduated from Findlay High School in 1965 and attended Findlay College receiving honors from Hallmark Gold Medal in Art. She enjoyed being part of her life group led by Jim and Linda Brucker .  Linda was very passionate in her love for the Lord and read his word daily. 

Linda had a love for gardening, doing puzzles, reading, doing crafts, baking, sewing, playing the card game nutsy, and loved passing them onto her Granddaughters.  Linda’s favorite vacation spot was the beach and loved going shelling.  

Linda is survived by her loving family, sons and daughter-in-laws.  Bryan Neal (Lacca) Smith of Mounds View, MN, Mark Allen (Tammy) Smith of Heath, grandchildren Hannah and Madison Smith and Kari Smith and her fiancé Jacob Brown, a sister Brenda Louise (Bill) Wilson of New Hampshire, nephew Chad Oman(Theresa)Wilson and a great niece Kayleigh, close friend Steve , and Linda’s beloved cat Mittens (Mitty).

Reta Dianne Reber (Walton) of Newark, July 25, 1964 – July 27, 2019

Reta Dianne (Walton) Reber, 55, of Newark, died Saturday, July 27, 2019 at her home. She was born July 25, 1964 in Newark to Carl W. Walton and Ruby (Rand) Patterson.

Reta loved her children, grandchildren, animals, and was a huge fan of Elvis.

She is survived by her daughter, Whitney Walton; son, Garon Walton; grandchildren, Dominic and Dayson Walton; mother, Ruby Patterson; sister, Carolyn Walton Hoy (Andy); nephew, Andrew Hoy (Mary); great nephew, Marshall Edward Hoy; and special friend, Edgar L. Dowell.

She was preceded in death by daughter, Keelie Walton; father, Carl W. Walton; and grandparents.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 pm at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St. Newark, where a family led prayer service will immediately follow at 8:00 pm.

Mary Louise Downs of Newark, October 1, 1937 – July 26, 2019

Mary Louise Downs, 81, of Newark, died Friday, July 26, 2019 at Flint Ridge Nursing Home. She was born October 1, 1937 in Newark to the late Charles and Jennie (Campbell) Snyder.

Mary was a 1955 graduate of Newark High School where she played Trumpet in the marching band. She married Eyler “Ike” Downs on July 3, 1955 and they were married for 51 years. Mary retired form Sears and enjoyed attending the Sears retirees’ luncheons. She liked taking vacations to the Smokey Mountains and Myrtle Beach and loved going to the Amish Country and sitting on her porch visiting with friends and family.

She is survived by two daughters, Pamela Lonca (Larry) of Newark and Janet Geer (Timothy) of Newark; granddaughter, Kelli Wheeler (K.J. McPherson); two great granddaughters, Brittany and Alison Wheeler; brother, Charles D. Snyder (Cheryl) of Granville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ike Downs.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 12-1 PM at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St. Newark, where the funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM with pastor Wally McLaughlin officiating. Burial will follow the service in Wilson Cemetery.

Donna Jean Hoover of Heath, November 5, 1935 – July 26, 2019

Donna Jean Hoover, 83, of Heath, died Friday, July 26, 2019 at Select Medical Hospital. She was born November 5, 1935 in Newark to the late Joseph T. and Hazel (McNabb) Shibler.

Donna was a member of Central Christian Church and a member of the Buckeye Lake Yacht Club for 44 years. She enjoyed cheering for the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cincinnati Reds. Donna was a loving grandmother. She was very active in her grandchildren’s lives and supported each of them.

She is survived by daughter, Lisa Ann (Todd) Poff; son, Bob (Shonda) Hoover; grandchildren, Lauren Nicole Poff, Megan Elise Hoover, and Taylor Renee Hoover; brother, Frank (Bev) Shibler; nieces, Ann Marie and Nancy Shibler; grand dog, Coco; and multiple cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Larry P. Hoover.

Memorial contributions may be made to Central Christian Church, 587 Mt. Vernon Rd, Newark, OH 43055.

Jeannie Gibson of Lake Elsinore, CA, March 28, 1967 – July 19, 2019

Jeannie Gibson, age 52, of Lake Elsinore, California, formally Newark, Ohio, passed away at her home on July 19th, 2019. She was born on March 28, 1967 in Newark.

Jeannie worked as a property manager in Long Beach, California. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling to national parks and quilting. She also loved taking her family to the beach and Disneyland.

Jeannie is survived by her father, Bill (Babbie) Gibson; children, Trevor Gibson and Kyle (Ash-ley) Bryan; granddaughter, Aya Gibson; brother, Zeke (Cassie) Gibson; sister, Donna (Mindy) Gibson; a very special cousin Melissa (Tyler) Thacker and several other cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her Mother, Lois “Madge” Gibson.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Cynthia “Cindy” Sue Morgan of Newark, September 9, 1942 – July 23, 2019

Cynthia Sue “Cindy” Morgan, 76, of Newark, died Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at her home. She was born September 9, 1942 in Newark to the late Clair and Mildred (Hizey) Ritchey.

Cindy was a member of the Northside Church of Christ. She was a member of two different Euchre clubs for over 30 years. She enjoyed listening to music and attending concerts, especially Phil Dirt and the Dozers. She loved making special Christmas ornaments by hand and giving them away to family, friends, and even strangers.

She is survived by son, Christopher (Robin) Welch of Dublin; two daughters, Charlotte (Dale) Young of Powell and Melissa Welch of Newark; stepson, John Morgan; and nine grandchildren, Tyler, Jack, Faith, Coleman, Ryne, Clark, Trevor, Jenna, and Anthony.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Lowell Morgan; stepson, Jeffery Morgan; and brother, Gary Ritchey.

Joan Mary Lawson of Heath, January 18, 1936 – July 23, 2019

Joan Mary Lawson, 83, of Heath, died Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at her home. She was born January 18, 1936 in Chillicothe to the late Joseph and Loretta (Zander) Siegfried.

Joan was the owner/operator of a tax preparation service and enjoyed making custom cards for every one of her clients and mailing them for holidays and special occasions. She enjoyed traveling, especially camping in her camper and taking cruises. She also enjoyed making canvas art.

She is survived by her husband of 19 years, Jerry Lawson; son, Christopher G. Lawson (Jaime) of Heath; four grandchildren, Joshua Murphy, Ryan P. Martin, Savannah Lawson, and Peyton Lawson; and two great grandchildren, Aden Murphy and Gracelynn Martin.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by daughter, Bev Vantu; and husband, Gordon R. Lawson.

Corby Jo Hall of Hebron, Ohio, July 12, 1972 – July 20, 2019

A Celebration of Life service for Corby Jo Hall, 47, of Hebron, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, with Pastor Paul Hansen officiating.  Family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home, 985 N. 21st St. Newark.

Corby was born July 12, 1972, in Newark, to Lee R. Hall and Kathryn E. (Fornataro) Anderson.

He passed away July 20, 2019, at St. Rita’s Medical Center Hospital in Lima, OH.

Corby was a 1991 graduate of Lakewood High School and worked for Dietz Property Group.

He is survived by his wife, Susie (Weigandt) Hall; mother, Katheryn E. (Cap) Anderson; father, Lee R. “Buzz” (Julia) Hall; children, Makenzie and Carson Hall, and Blaine and Brandi Hafen; brother, Eric (Staci) Hall; half-sister, Fawn (Steve) Hitchcock; step-siblings, Brian (Shelli) Drumm, Tracy Drumm, Christopher Anderson, Teasa (Jeff) Wollenburg, and Tandy Anderson, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Anderson.
