Carolyn Sue Pickett of Newark, OH, January 12, 1966 – June 27, 2019

Carolyn Sue Pickett, 53, of Newark, died Thursday, June 27, 2019 at Altercare Newark South after a long struggle with liver disease. She was born in San Angelo, TX, where she was adopted as the daughter of the late Carrol and Mary Burns.

Carolyn had a zeal for life and always wanted to spend life’s moments with the people she loved. She was a free spirit who loved modeling, jewelry, milkshakes, listening to rock music, riding Harleys, spending time with her rescued cats, and baking for her friends and family. She had a smile that could brighten anyone’s day and she strived to make people as happy as she could.

Known as “Pretty Feather” to her friends, Carolyn was proud of her Native American heritage, which she discovered later in life when she found her birth mother, Celia Drosihn, and her half-siblings, Cindy and John. She was thrilled to meet her biological family and was still searching for her half-brother, Leon, when she passed.

She is survived by two daughters, Ashley Shay of Smoot, WV and Cheyenne Rain of Newark; three brothers, Tim Burns of Florida, John Morris of Texas and Leon; one sister, Cindy Thomas of Dallas, TX; significant other, Tom Schell of Newark; and her four beloved cats, Gizmoe, Rebel, Gustav, and Layla.

No funeral services will be held at this time. The family is planning a memorial motorcycle ride in Carolyn’s honor at a later date. For more information or to help with this event, please call 361-330-9812 or 740-404-1142.
